Exciting news—young and old together!

The Church Was Meant to Be a Family—Not a Club

Somewhere along the way, the church started looking more like the world—divided by age, interests, and life stages. Youth groups over here. Seniors’ ministries over there. Everyone is in their own corner, missing the richness of shared wisdom and the strength of walking together.

At Makers of Care, we see something different unfolding...

Young people are stepping up—not just to “help” the older generation but to truly engage with them: to listen, to learn, and to serve in a way that restores dignity. They deeply desire authentic connections and need organizations like ours to make it happen. In return, they are discovering something profound: that real community isn’t about being needy or self-sufficient—it’s about honoring and valuing one another.

Recently, we were humbled to receive a special donation of nearly $13,000 from a vibrant church primarily composed of young adults and families. Their enthusiasm and commitment to serve have been truly inspiring. This incredible group is not only contributing financially but is actively involved in our respite program, offering their time and energy.

Many believe that serving Caregivers requires a significant time commitment. But in reality, it’s not about grand gestures—it’s about recognizing and valuing Caregivers as vital members of the church, even when they can’t always be within its walls.

True respite isn’t just about offering a break; it’s about fostering connection, support, and belonging in everyday ways that remind Caregivers they are seen, valued, and never alone.

It reminds me of Proverbs 11:25,

Whoever brings blessing will be enriched, and the one who waters will himself be watered.

Unlike the world, which seeks to divide, we are witnessing unity in action. When generations come together, we see the heart of God at work. We see lives transformed, not through programs or strategies, but through relationships.

The momentum is growing, and we believe this is just the beginning. We’re inspired to see such vibrant connections proving that care and compassion know no age limit. By building a continuum of support that spans generations, we’re ensuring that no Caregiver feels alone in their journey.

Together, we can build a community that doesn’t just meet needs but restores human value—one act of care at a time.

A Story of Impact A few weeks ago, we partnered with Redemption Tempe church during a Serve Day to bring help and hope to 17 caregivers and seniors in need. One participant, a woman whose husband is in a care facility, needed help with tasks she could no longer manage independently. But what truly lit up her heart wasn’t the completed chores—it was the kindness of the two men who visited her. They sat with her, listened to her story, shared a cookie and drink, and reminded her that she...

Merry Christmas! Your generosity helped make our annual Caregiver Christmas Brunch unforgettable. This season can be a challenging season for Caregivers as they care for a sick or dependent loved one and wonder if this will be their last. Our wonderful volunteers ensured that Caregivers who arrived weary and burdened left feeling connected, supported, and seen—knowing they were not alone. A special thank you to Le Schroeder and Sandy Williams for prepping all the food, Ivette Kershaw for the...
